Description
French 1756 – died circa 1819. Van Gorp was originally Dutch but moved to Paris in the late 18th century persuing patrons. A prolific portraitist, Van Gorp was in great demand for his romantic scenes and realistic yet romantic portraits. Signed in the middle right of the canvas. Painting needs cleaning but is in a lovely ormolu style frame.
