Early 19th century Korean Tansu Nong Bandaji scholars or wedding cabinet made of elmwood and featuring brass accents and 1 brass fish lock. Four drawers range across the top and the chest portion is accessed through the hinged doors in each section. The Korean name bandaji, which means half-closed, derives from the hinged door in the front of the chest. This type of chest was one of the most essential, and most commonly found, pieces of furniture in a Korean household. It is in two, lightweight pieces for ease of movement.
